What you burn
Direct emissions from sources you own or control: fuels and refrigerant leakage.
Typical lines: natural gas, heating oil, LPG, company-owned vehicles, refrigerant top-ups.
Beta — work in progress
Estimate emissions using the GHG Protocol’s scope structure. Your data stays in this browser.
The basics
The GHG Protocol splits a company's emissions into three buckets. The split isn't about how big the emissions are — it's about who controls the source.
Direct emissions from sources you own or control: fuels and refrigerant leakage.
Typical lines: natural gas, heating oil, LPG, company-owned vehicles, refrigerant top-ups.
Indirect emissions from purchased energy. This calculator uses location-based grid electricity.
Typical lines: purchased electricity, district heating and cooling.
Other indirect emissions across 15 value-chain categories. This tool estimates selected activities only.
Typical lines: business travel, commuting, waste, water, purchased goods and services.
Coverage is partial: common fuels and refrigerants, purchased electricity and heat, and selected Scope 3 activities. Process emissions, most value-chain categories and market-based Scope 2 are not calculated.
The calculator
Fill in what you have and leave the rest blank — a partial answer is still a useful one. Everything updates as you type, and your entries are saved in this browser so you can come back to them.
Method
Activity data × emission factor = kgCO₂e. Factors and coverage are visible below.
Uses the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard scope definitions and selected Scope 3 calculation methods. A complete compliant inventory requires more boundaries, categories and disclosures.
Location-based electricity only. Where required, a separate market-based result must follow the Scope 2 Guidance quality criteria. This tool does not provide that result.
Built-in factors are verified against DESNZ 2026. Most are UK-specific; hotel stays use France. Grid and spend inputs require a published source. Flight factors exclude non-CO₂ radiative forcing.
GRI guides sustainability disclosure. It is not an emission-factor database, and this calculator is not a GRI report or a certified inventory.

Factor library · DESNZ 2026 Verified against the July 2026 revised flat file (v1.2). Choose factors appropriate to the reporting year, geography and activity.
Screening only. A partial estimate, not verified emissions data. Blank activities are excluded, not confirmed zero. Review boundaries, coverage and factors before external reporting.
